Fox News and Respect, or Lack Thereof

offer-442904_1280Unless you have been living under a rock, there is no doubt that you have heard about Bruce Jenner’s decision to be his authentic self, and to transition to female. Yesterday, Vanity Fair revealed the cover story and photos of Caitlyn Jenner, and with that the use of female pronouns that should be used to respectfully refer to Caitlyn. I am not writing this to preach to you about LGBT rights, but I am going to say that if you can’t be respectful of your fellow human beings, then keep your mouth shut. Unfortunately, the people at Fox News feel it is their job to mock and ridicule someone that has struggled their entire life to be their true self. Instead of displaying any kind of respect, class, or empathy, Fox News reporters Neil Cavuto and Dagen Mcdowell repeatedly make tasteless jokes and perpetuate the conservative, biased, and sometimes hateful, views of Fox News. You don’t have to agree with the decision or the way other people live their lives, but do you have to talk about it the way Cavuto and Mcdowell do in that video? What does that accomplish? I have absolutely zero respect for Fox News as a reliable news source. I know that it is hard to find any news source these days that isn’t biased in one direction or the other, but I have yet to find clips or stories from other sources that responded in such a disgusting manner. It isn’t your job to approve of other people and the way they live their lives; you don’t have to agree with it. But first, think about how you or someone you love would feel if they were treated this way. Even if you didn’t agree with them, would you let them be ridiculed and insulted? Second, please gather your information and news from a variety of sources to ensure that you are getting an accurate picture of a story.

  1. I usually am not aware of news and unfortunately I did hear about this.

Thank you for sharing your article. Although I do agree that if we all lived by the “golden rule”, treat others how you would like to be treated. Be nice! blah, blah, blah. and be true to ourselves and who we are. I do believe if you are going to put yourself out there; you are putting yourself out there for people to judge you. After all this is natural human reaction. I can’t help to feel that Ms. Caitlyn likes everyone talking about her/him and all the media attention it is getting. And how drama filled that whole family is it all makes logical sense. If she really didn’t want the attention or the public scrutiny; there are other ways to go about it. I am just saying people will always be judged and shamed upon and that’s life. As long as you love yourself that is what truly matters.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. I always hear something negative about Fox News, and as far as someone changing their sex it is no ones business, but that would only be in a prefect world. Hope Caitlyn copes just fine.
