One of my favorite sights while on a motorcycle trip was the geological formations in the Arches National Park. It was in mid-September and mornings were quite cold. We wanted to get to the park early as the colors of the rock formations really pop at sunrise.
These formations are approximately 65 million years old and are made of sandstone.
Although one may think that the area has been unchanged for centuries, it is actually still and constantly changing. In fact, on August 4, 2008 the Wall Arch collapsed.
It may be centuries before there is another collapse but eventually all of the arches will follow suit.
The Balance Rock is one of my favorites.
The Arches National Park has been the site for many movie productions including Galaxy Quest (1999) and Mission Impossible II (2000).
